Biography of Reona J. Daly
Reona Daly serves as Associate General Counsel for
Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Ms. Daly
is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a
Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) in Business
Administration and English. She obtained her Juris
Doctorate (cum laude) from SIU School of Law. Ms.
Daly joined the Office of General Counsel in 2010.
She is responsible for litigation and litigation
management, student issues including both disciplinary
and academic affairs, compliance with the Freedom of
Information Act and other document production, and
representation of the University before the Office of
Civil Rights, the EEOC, and the Illinois Department of
Prior to serving as Associate General Counsel Ms.
Daly worked as a Senior Associate at the law firm of
Sandberg Phoenix and von Gontard where she defended
medical malpractice and other civil cases in state and
federal courts. Ms. Daly also served as an
Assistant Attorney General in the General Law Bureau
where she focused on litigation of civil cases in
federal and state courts as well as the Court of Claims.
Ms. Daly is licensed to practice law in Illinois and
Missouri and the Federal District Court in the Southern
District of Illinois. She is a member of the
National Association of College and University
Attorneys, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the
Jackson County Bar Association.
